Project Description

These little ‘medicine balls’ are a fun and potent way to deliver super nutrition effectively.

The ingredients are carefully selected for their ability to support our immune system and build a natural stress defense shield.

My recipe is dedicated to 2 great teachers, David Wolfe and Dr. Joel Fuhrman, for their relentless research into using foods as medicine and enhancing our natural ability to heal.

Always use the best ingredients possible! Fresh, local, organic, raw, fair trade etc.

(makes approx. 50 small medicine truffles)

1 large pomegranate
½ cup of goji berries
½ cup of dried cherries
½ cup of fresh ground chia seeds
½ cup of fresh ground flax seeds
2 tablespoons of dried orange peel
½ cup of cacao nibs
½ cup of shredded coconut
50 gr. of cacao butter
4 tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil
4 tablespoons of raw honey
20 drops of stevia (depending on how sweet you like it)
fresh juice of 1 orange, tangelo or mandarine

Super-food powders:
6 tablespoons of raw cacao powder
3 tablespoons of mucuna
2 tablespoons of medicinal mushroom powder
1 tablespoon of camu camu
1 tablespoon of spirulina
1 tablespoon of chlorella
1 tablespoon of purple corn powder

For the coating:
½ cup of goji berries
½ cup of cacao nibs

  • Cut the large pomegranate open and empty the juice and seeds evenly into 2 bowls. Mix goji berries and cherries with ½  pomegranate (seeds & juice) plus fresh juice of ½ orange. Put aside and stir occasionally until the berries are soft.
  • Grind chia seeds and mix with the remaining ½ pomegranate, plus fresh juice of ½ orange, set aside until chia seeds have absorbed the liquid.

  • Then grind the flax seeds with the dried orange peel in a high speed blender / food processor or the Thermomix, and add all the superfood powders – mix well.
  • [If necessary, melt the coconut oil in a water bath]
  • Next add the soaked chia seeds to the mixture as well as the honey plus stevia and the melted coconut oil and blend well.
  • [Melt the cacao butter in a water bath]
  • Blend the melted cacao butter through the mix but do not over process.
  • Now add the soft berry mix and chop through roughly, but don’t over process.

  • Last, just mix through the cacao nibs and shredded coconut.
  • Taste test and decide if the sweetness is right for you.
  • Transfer mixture into a bowl and cover.
  • Place into the fridge and let the mixture harden for several hours or, even better, overnight.
  • Grind the remaining goji berries and cacao nibs [in a coffee grinder] into a fine powder and set aside into a bowl.
  • Take the set mixture out of the fridge.
  • Now you are ready to shape your medicine balls.
  • [the perfect tool to do so is a small stainless steel ice cream scooper with a spring action]
  • Shape balls and place them into the bowl with the coating [powder of goji & nibs], make sure they are fully covered.
  • Transfer coated medicine balls to a storage container and store in the fridge.

You can also store some of your ‘Super-immunity Truffles’ in the freezer – for a rainy day 🙂
